Airports Council International in Europe (ACI) -industry trade association- and SESAR JU -public-private partnership- work on a diverse range of issues including airport capacity and slots, airport connectivity, aviation liberalisation and external relations, airport leadership and change management and airport traffic. They are also actively engaged in promoting climate action by the airport industry.

ACI Europe and SESAR JU needed an engaging communication tool to explain how better coordination and communication between airports can improve air traffic management. To make these complex operational issues more accessible, we created an interactive augmented reality serious game combining education, entertainment and immersive technology.

Played on an iPad and connected to a large screen displaying a 3D animated airport, the experience allowed users to scan AR tags, discover animated problem scenarios, answer short quizzes and receive immediate feedback. Each sequence guided players towards a clearer understanding of airport operations and the solutions developed to improve safety, environmental performance, capacity, resilience and efficiency.

The result was a smart and accessible AR experience, later adapted into a web-compatible version, that turned a highly technical subject into an intuitive, playful and informative journey for event audiences.
