The CCAM (Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility) Partnership is the European Partnership dedicated to connected, cooperative and automated mobility. Co-programmed under Horizon Europe, it brings together public and private stakeholders to accelerate research, testing and deployment of innovative mobility technologies and services. Its work focuses on making automated mobility safer, more sustainable, more inclusive and better integrated into real-life transport systems.

To help the CCAM Partnership communicate the practical benefits of future automated mobility, we designed a large-scale visual concept of a European city shaped by connected, cooperative and automated transport services.

The objective was not simply to show futuristic vehicles, but to illustrate what automated mobility could improve in everyday urban and peri-urban life: safer roads, smoother logistics, cleaner transport, better access to mobility services, reduced CO₂ impact and a city designed around people rather than vehicles.

We created a global bird’s-eye-view illustration of a green, realistic and slightly futuristic European city, structured around intermodality and livability. The city integrates several complementary transport systems — road, rail, metro, river transport, cycling infrastructure, micromobility and shared mobility services — while preserving a human-scale environment with pedestrians, recreational areas, green spaces and public facilities.

The image was conceived as a global scene with three main zoom-in areas, each dedicated to a specific family of use cases.
