The client

For the European Commission’s Baveno initiative and the EU Space / Copernicus ecosystem, we created an immersive visual mapping experience. The digital scenography was showcased during Baveno+20, the landmark event celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Baveno Manifesto.

Copernicus, previously known as GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security), is the European Union's Earth observation programme.

In 2018, the programme celebrated its 20th anniversary.

The mission

The space department of the DG GROW wanted to celebrate in an outstanding way the 20th anniversary of the Baveno Manifesto. For this reason, they asked us to take care of the whole event. SpaceTec, our partner, oversaw the logistics.

Coming up with an original concept, knowing that the scenography was limited by the boundaries of the place where the event was organised -a splendid hotel located on the banks of Lake Garda, in Baveno, Italy. In other terms, quite far away from any big city, such as Milan.

We designed a concept based on a 13 meters long HD LED screen, that was provided by a Slovenian company. We also created an ambilight show and produced 58 different films and animations that interacted accordingly with the orchestra, the moderator, the speakers and the public. The show’s duration was 3 hours. Three days were needed to set everything up, and conduct all the rehearsals.

And... it was all worth it! The Commissioner Bienkowska congratulated us for the show, the client was obviously happy and the whole event was well followed on social media, where we live-streamed it for the whole time. The show was also scheduled for the evening conference. The next day, a whole bunch of smaller events were organized, under our supervision.
